Things nobody tells you
- You lose an hour. Utah is on Mountain Time, one hour ahead of Las Vegas. Plan check-in and lift times around it.
- Winter tires matter on the last stretch. I-15 is usually clear, but Highway 143 is a mountain road. 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended, and chains are a smart backup.
- Fuel and groceries in Cedar City. It is the last big town before the mountain, about 35 minutes from Brian Head.
- Altitude is real. You are going from about 2,000 feet to nearly 10,000. Drink water and take the first afternoon easy.
